The Laboratory of Greenhouse Gas Emission and Absorption in the Department of Biogeochemistry of the Natural Environment:
- conducts multidimensional research in the field of greenhouse gas emissions and absorption (CO2, CH4, N2O) – from field studies to the evaluation of the microbiological basis of processes;
- quantitative assessment of gas emissions and uptake in soils with different land uses and agrotechnical treatments;
- understanding the composition and activity of the microbiota found in different natural and anthropogenic environments, with a particular focus on agroecosystems. Our focus is on the microorganisms responsible for the production and uptake of greenhouse gases, with particular emphasis on those involved in the processes of methanogenesis and methanotrophy.
