On July 22, 2015 the Director of the Institute of Agrophysics Polish Academy of Sciences Prof. Cezary Sławiński signed a Declaration of Commitment to “The European Charter for Researchers” and “The Code of Conduct for the Recruitment academics”. The Institute of Agrophysics PAS joined the research institutions and universities which recognize the value of the principles of the Charter & Code and is committed to their implementation.

Promoting excellence involves creating an environment for research, training and career development of researchers as well as their mobility. We are sure that implementing regulations of Charter & Code will help to create the best environment for the researchers.

During the Charter & Code implementation process the institute evaluated its operations, policies and procedures against the Charter & Code principles. Information on strengths and weaknesses and recommendations for improvements were collected by the working group from researchers and from other personnel involved in or supporting research activities. Although most of the recommendations of the Charter & Code are already to a large extent implemented in the Polish legislation and in the internal regulations of the IAPAS, further improvement of these principles is also fully in line with the strategic goals and on-going development plans of the institute.

A strategic plan (HRS4R) is being developed within the Institute of Agrophysics PAS for implementing the principles of the Charter and Code.

By implementing the Charter & Code, IAPAS aims at consolidating the attraction of the institute as a stimulating working environment for researchers, and aligns its strategic goals with the transnational initiative of the European Commission to enhance the quality of research and innovation in Europe. IAPAS publishes its Action Plan for the years 2015-2017.
